Mathieu Lippé is at once a poet, singer, storyteller, composer, speaker, yogi, and self-producer. He plays with words while blending music and poetry through slam, in service of hopeful visions and a deeply humanist outlook. Somewhere between pop song and free-form poetry, he invites audiences to create wonder.
His voice evolves over time, colored by the people he encounters as though they were landscapes. Winner of the Festival de la chanson de Granby (2011), gold medalist at the Jeux de la Francophonie (2009), recipient of the Dédé Fortin Award (2012), the Granby–France Tour Prize (Lynda Lemay Award, 2015), and second place at the Poetry Slam World Cup (France), Mathieu deconstructs and rebuilds reality through his songs, stories, and vibrant rhythmic slam poetry. For over 20 years, like a modern troubadour, he has toured extensively throughout Québec, Canada, and France. Alongside his performances, he also leads songwriting and poetry workshops across the Francophone world and beyond (United States, Mexico, Italy, etc.).
In his ongoing celebration of the French language, he recently created a custom slam piece for Francophonie Day at the National Assembly of Québec for the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie.
In addition to writing lyrics for many artists (Fred Pellerin, Brigitte Boisjoli, Stéphanie Bédard, Amylie, IMA, among others), he has released three albums that he also produced (Là où le cœur mène in 2007, Le Voyage in 2013, Les Amants de l’Aube in 2017).
In April 2025, Mathieu released the EP Prélude à la Splendeur, the first part of his upcoming album La magnificence des choses qui renaissent, scheduled for release in 2026.
