A master percussionist, Senegalese-born singer-songwriter Élage Diouf settled in Canada in 1996 to pursue a musical career that continues to flourish today.

His music — a hybrid of pop, world, blues, folk, and asiko — sits at the crossroads of artists such as Carlinhos Brown, Peter Gabriel, and Andrés Cepeda. Because of the musicality of the language, he sings primarily in Wolof, his mother tongue.

Sincere in his artistic approach, charismatic, authentic, and approachable both on and off stage, audiences connect deeply with him — and he, above all, connects with them. His performances are renowned for audience participation, inviting people to dance and sing both from the crowd and on stage. His warm, distinctive voice combined with diverse influences makes him a truly unique artist.

Élage Diouf first gained recognition through numerous collaborations, notably with André “Dédé” Fortin and his band Les Colocs. As co-writer of the song Tassez-vous de là, he received a SOCAN Écho Award.

His many collaborations also led him to join the Cirque du Soleil’s world tour Delirium as a featured artist, performing over 200 shows in major cities worldwide and gaining remarkable stage experience.

In recent years, he has also toured as a special guest with internationally renowned artist Johnny Reid.

In 2017, Élage released a Wolof-language EP that made waves in Senegal. He followed with his latest album Wutiko in 2021. His music continues to resonate widely — his song Navetane became the official anthem of the Senegalese national team for the 2022 World Cup.
