Rosier, a women-fronted Montréal collective, perfectly embodies the idea of “between tradition and modernity.” With an airy, poetic, and atmospheric sensibility, the quintet brings a distinctive touch to today’s indie-folk landscape. Their repertoire of modernized traditional folk songs highlights female voices expressing contemporary values while remaining deeply rooted in their origins, blending indie textures with pop influences.
The close-knit members of Rosier have performed together for over a decade, formerly under another name. The group has toured in more than fifteen countries, released six albums, and received major nominations, notably at ADISQ and the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Their latest album, elle veille encore, released in November 2024, explores maternal spirit within an ethereal folk universe tinged with dream-pop and indie-tronica.
Accustomed to both local and international touring since its beginnings, the quintet has performed in major cities worldwide at events such as SXSW, the Edmonton Folk Festival, TSB Festival of Lights and Auckland Folk Festival (New Zealand), Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (USA), Port Fairy and Woodford Folk Festival (Australia), Tønder Folk Festival (Denmark), Festival Pause-Guitare (France), Bardentreffen Festival (Germany), Itinerari Folk Festival (Italy), Bromyard Folk Festival (United Kingdom), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), and the Jeux de la Francophonie in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), among many others.
